My mum had one of these a fking loved it. Super reliable, easy to drive - even looked half decent. She wouldn’t have sold it if my brother and I didn’t insist on a safer car once she was driving the grandkids around. Even the residual value wasn’t bad considering she bought it new.

I think for a small car they are brilliantly styled.
Will be a shame to see the numbers on the road now dwindle away

Not sure if it is still the case. But didn't the C1 share the same platform with the Toyota Aygo?
If it does, do Toyota still manufacture the Aygo?

I read somewhere that it costs the manufacturers too much to get these small new cars to comply with latest/upcoming emissions regs?

Along with the petrol Up/Citigo/Mii I expect there wont be many petrol ones left to buy soon.

I’ve bought 2 of these for my daughter. A gen-1 in which she learned to drive, followed by a gen-2. In terms of customer satisfaction, based on my own small survey these cars are the best I’ve ever bought. It’s a pity, Citroen, and other French brands are brilliant at this sort of thing.

Toyota have now got a new Aygo X which has the same 1.0 litre engine but a bit chunkier looking and fits below the Yaris.

They still think the city car is profitable going alone.

Guess all the hybrids they sell even out the co2 costs of keeping the petrol Aygo without getting fined

Yes, emissions regs, and safety regs. As time goes on, the cost to manufacturer these cars in the smallest class goes up and erodes the profits, it will eventually make the super mini class disappear altogether, when the prices rise enough to justify the next class up (Citroen C2) would be the smallest in the range eventually.

I think it's already been agreed there will not be a MK3 C1 etc.

As we have also already seen with the Ford KA, and are starting to see with the Fiesta.

We love ours.
Best car in the family without a doubt
Just going over 100k in four years it’s needed a clutch, nothing else at a cost of 280


Parked on the street or on a farm, battered and dented and filthy

Always starts ultra reliable.

Clutches were a bit of a weak point on these early models but apart from that they cost buttons to run! Think I measured 55mpg over a tank in my mom's when I borrowed it for the week. And that included a lot of 70 in 3rd gear entries and overtakes on the motorway!
