Citroen C5X tyres
Discussion
Hi
Just wondering what tyres the C5X owners have fitted, or if they've changed and noticed any difference/ improvement?
My shine+ was 74 reg, although was an early 2023 build. The tyres on it are marked 0723 which I presume means wk 7 of 2023. The tyres fitted are Goodyear Efficientgrip Performance, the first version. Just wondered if everyone else has the same fafctory fitted too?
I've done a bit of research and if I can sell the old ones at a decent price I want to upgrade to Michelin e.PRIMACY (205/55 R19 97V) XL S2 ACO. Its between these and the Primacy 5 but I think the former eges it as specifically developed for PHEV's.

I have Rxmotion U11. (205/55R19) Not original fitment obviously and they came with the car.
Never heard of them before and a quick google says they are a bit of a budget brand. They're OK, little tyre noise and seem good in the dry. They can get a bit scrabbly in the wet when pulling away quickly. I think there are better tyres out there. But they're not bad enough to swap for premium tyres.

Well things have turned out quite well. Managed to get a bid on the old tyres so they'll be sold in a few days.
When it came to the new ones in the end I ditched the eprimacy idea and it was between the Primacy 5 and the Crossclimate 3, both Michelin. Both are quite new but not all places seem to stock the CC3 and then when they do it's hard to get a discount on them. I can't exactly remember but after looking at lots of places I think lowest I could get is £650+. The Primacy 5 meanwhile came in at £484 which I'm very happy with.
Having them fitted on Thursday and hope there is an improvement. I'll report back at some stage with my findings.

Had the Primacy 5 fitted today replacing the Goodyear Efficientgrip V1 with 6.5mm tread.
When choosing them it was a dilemma, no doubt the e.primacy with ACO would have been quieter but apparently subjective comfort is lower due to less rolling resistance etc. Considering both together the primacy 5 should be better overall. As an aside I also looked at the Crossclimate 3 which are newly introduced, not all suppliers have them and may well have plumped for them if the price difference wasnt the best part of £200.
Drove back for 45 mins from the fitter and the outcome was very much as expected. The noise is certainly less, not night and day but less. When it comes to ride comfort and general planted feeling it was more pronounced, the tyres just ironed out the bumps noticeably better than before and gave a lift to the lazy nature of the car, it just felt smoother and more luxurious.
But that's not really all of it. Apparently the tyres will get better in 500-1000 miles when they settle in a bit. Also when I got home I checked the tyre pressures and they were all up at 39psi, far too high. As such I set them all at 33psi which should make it even smoother next time I go for a drive.
Overall for a p/x cost of around £350 excluding a bit of time and hassle I'm glad I made the change. I only drive maybe 4k miles a year so these tyres should do me for 4+ years before I come to change.
