Software update required at dealership after re-mapping

Someone I know has had a letter in the post highlighting a safety recall on their Peugeot associated with camshaft drive chain, premature wearing. This will involve a software update.
Slight problem being they previously had it re-mapped owing to persistent Ad-blu issues which were unrelenting, and parts and availability became an issue, the decision was taken to re-map.
Will the software update go through when the car goes in? or will it just show a fault and refuse to update.
