did peugeot make a 306 xsi 16v? its an 'r' reg and this is to settle an arguement that the xsi was an 8v or did they indeed build an xsi 16v? cheers much beer rests on this!

Yes, my brother has one, its the XU10J4R engine with 135bhp.

early XSIs were 8v, later 16v

Im sure it was on the 'R' a friend of mine has one and its a pretty decent motor!

I think it was when they went from Ph1 to Ph2 (slatted front grill to rounded front) which was around the 'P' reg time.

Good engine too, Evo tested a 306 xsi and they got a 0-60mph time of around 8.5seconds!

Yeah they made a 16v.

A chap at a petrol station local to me was chatting about my 306 rallye and went on tell me he had an XSI 16v. (in my head i was thinking this bloke hasnt got a clue they didnt make a 16v)

Then i found out they did smile
