My old 205 GTi

Owned this about 8 years ago... haven't seen one in the same condition since

Never driven one,but would love too,have seen some chaved up ones through the years but the ones like this are very rare. is this a 1.9?

Yeah, it is (or was) a 1.9... this pic was taken in 2003, just before I sold it. I very much doubt it's in the same condition now :-(

1.9's were always the "good ones",an evolved 1.6 generally.Yep,totally stock 205's are a rare sight,anyway,how does the Clio 182 (based by your name ) compares to the 205 1.9? In terms of driving feel,Handling etc.

I haven't picked it up yet... I am in London all day tomorrow, so hopefully collecting it on Thursday.

From the short test drive I had the Clio is a whole lot quicker, and the brakes are awesome. Obviously quite a bit heavier than the 205, but still handled like it was on rails. The 20 years of progress shows...

Will post photos and a full report soon ;-)

Rubbish, a 1.6 is as good in many ways!

As i said i never driven a 205,but from the reviews and motoring press they always quoted the 1.9 as "the better one".Increase of power sure made it quicker,but i bet fun factor is still high, both on 1.6 and 1.9.

1.6 has a higher rev limit and better higher in the rev range generally that the longer stroke 1.9 block.

1.6s are generally a bit lighter too, aluminium brake calipers, lighter wheels, no oil cooler...if anyone's looking to buy one I'd advise ignoring the badge on the back and going on the best condition one!

That's what I was told by several sources when I was looking.

When i bought my old 1.6 in 2003 i found it much easier to find a good 1.6 than 1.9. However i suspect things may have changed now.
