I’ve always wanted one and once my current Boxster has sold, I’ve noticed that early cars with sub 100k miles are within my self-inflicted budget of around £11k.

I know they aren’t cheap to run in general but how ruinous are they in reality - it would be used fairly regularly but probably not doing much more than 5k a year.

While happy to do basic maintenance, I don’t have a garage or access to a ramp so I know my limits

Should I just admire from afar or jump in and enjoy? Hoping for some realistic responses from PH

Thanks in advance

.Make sure you go through the service history. You are looking for evidence that expensive items have been done - things like front suspension, alternator and starter motor. Things that might mean engine out. Have a. minimum of £5k up your sleeve just in case.

All of the vacuum line barb fittings with plastic pipes will have split creating a lean burn - high egt’s and an engine light.

Complex cars with everything suffering from the heat being packed in to such a tight space.

My 2008 GT Speed cost £28000 to rectify issues around the engine.

The later 2010 GT Supersports was a delight but would throw an engine management light so it went. Now running Ferrari ff.

Ok so that’s not exactly helping - but also confirming what the thought - beautiful cars to admire from afar but perhaps not to own at that age/price point.

The search continues - thanks all

I briefly considered one as a bit of a laugh and to use as my kids football car, driving all over the place every weekend, but seemingly empty your wallet as quick as the fuel tank.

I love them, drove a few, think they look & feel marvellous.

I don’t own one.

I have an L405 SDV8 Range Rover.
Which is more comfortable than the Bentley on a roadtrip, with far better economy.
I also have a TVR Griffith.
Which is more fun than the Bentley with far better economy.

If I had £11k to spend & wanted a fast, fun, luxurious car I’d buy this:
