Anyone had a problem with theirs?
The car would all of a sudden start losing power, which is a bit scary when your at high speed with traffic close behind eek so took it to garage, and apparantly it was the air bypass valve that wasn't operating smoothly,so basically just needed freeing off and lubricating.
Been dreading getting a phonecall telling me it was something serious and expensive,so relief all around.

I had a similar issue with mine where power was lacking. My Mini is an R56 and I have paid for the warranty to be extended with BMW / Mini. Do you have this, they should be able to change the part on the warranty.

My particular issue was that the car would be fine but then power would decrease to the point where doing over 70 proved to be a task. One look after the diagnostics meant a new high pressure fuel and coolant pump.

I am so glad I extended the warranty, the car has costed me a fortune in the past month and thanks to the warranty it is less that it could have been.

Yeah it's a common fault, as standard they don't shut fully meaning on full throttle you lose power and then as they age they can get sticky, it's well worth replacing it and when you do make sure you put the effort into modifying the stops so that it shuts fully without sticking, in some cars i've seen differences of 3 PSI and WOT!

Read the title, he has an R53, a supercharged one, not a turbo.
