Wifes mini, fronts need replacing.. Whats the options? I personally dont like the run flats.. To be honest I think the general ride on the car is shocking.

Can they just be replaced with standard tyres? If so is it better to replace all four? Or if we are stuck with run flats any decent suppliers ?

Cheers

I can't help with advice on specific tyres but I'm pretty sure mixing normal & run flats is a very bad idea.

We replaced the runflats on my wifes Mini 4 years ago and have never looked back. It's now on a new set of Toyo Proxes T1R's and continues to be firm, but way more compliant and comfortable than on the RFT's. She's running the 17" S Spoke alloys.

I have the T1R on my MX5 and while I love them through summer they aren't great (or even reasonable) in winter conditions. Are they any better on the MINI? I plan to swap away from run-flats on my Cooper at some point and was considering Uniroyal Rainsport.

Non ran falts are a lot better on the hole. There is no prob fitting, the presser warning light might come on but the reset info is in the hand book. It is best to have all 4 tyres on a car the same or as close to the same as posible. The bigger the diffrence the more odd handeling you get.

Just changed my wheels from runflats to T1R's after my mate decided to sell his wheels and tyres and personally I didnt really notice much difference. I 'should' really notice this, but I didnt. We have got lighter wheels as well, but dont notice any real change, weirdly. Roads around here are so lumpy, in a mini its like a game of buckaroo anyway.
