2002 MINI Electrical Problems
Discussion
For some reason the battery on my 2002 Cooper S was flat as a pancake today, couldn't jump or bump start it so called the AA out who charged it and everything was fine. Probably a light left on or something else draining the battery, as his machine said it was in good condition (may be wrong, obviously).
Anyway, a few hours later after a good run out, I noticed the indicator light on the dash was flashing, and clicking. I thought I had left the indicator on by accident, but I hadn't. I couldn't get it to stop. On further examination, the external indicator lights aren't actually flashing when this happens, and when I press the indicator stalk the lights actually flash correctly, so there isn't a safety issue as such.
Anyone have any ideas what the problem could be? Cheers.

Ah thanks, I think the outside two aren't wired up (and never have been) - I'll take a look.
The car has been throwing up random electrical faults since its battery went flat - indicator dash light anomalies and flat tyre lights etc. Since I've recharged the battery I've had no problems so fingers crossed it's sorted
Well done for taking the lead over most of the trip up - I'd overtake then suddenly realise I wasn't sure which exit we were going to take, so then I'd hang back...sorry if that was annoying. Also impressed with Felix in his Arosa pushing it to it's max to keep up!

I noticed it was one of the middle two that flashed.
You looked a little unsure when you went ahead. I was also aware that Les wanted to give his Viper a bit of a blast so made sure I kept out of his way near Sourton too. Good clear run though, can't do the same summer time.
The Arosa did really well, I think he was pleased.
I ended up in Tavistock with the car jacked up, wheel off removing a heat shield that was working it's way off between the driveshaft & turbo. Temporarily refitted it at a friends house nearby; still have burnt knuckles & skinned forearms now!
German reliability my ar$e.
