Which spark plugs? - 2004 R53 Cooper Works.
Discussion
Hi All,
We have a 2004 R53 1.6 Cooper with the JCW sound kit and ECU. Recently the plugs were changed at a service and replaced with the standard BMW plugs for a 1.6 Cooper. The car now seems a little "fluffy" and isn't pulling quite as well as before.
Previously we'd been using NGK Iridium BKR6EIX plugs and they seemed ok. However, always keen to hear what plugs other people have used and have felt that the change has been beneficial.
So, what's the concensus on which uprated plug to use on an N/A 1.6 Cooper Works?
I've also posted this over on Mini2.com, but know that sometimes response can be slow on there.
Thanks in advance
Matt

NGK's are the best by far, some companies (Lohen) recommend Denso, but NGK are well thought of/standard spec at most other places (like 1320, MiniCraft, Gtt etc etc)
Certainly if modifying an R53 they recommend the cooler plugs over the standard, this maybe half the reason while yours feels 'fluffy' being a JCW?
Always use 99 ron fuel too, it will appreciate it

Matt, I've been doing some digging around on this as an attempt to understand/cure my misfire. This seems to be the accepted wisdom (link says 2nd gen but it covers all models):

Basically, the JCW should be running a slightly colder plug in the (7). Yours may not need it if not the full conversion tho.
