SWMBO has a Supercharged Cooper S soft top. The trip computer always reads an average of around 29mph whether you're pottering round town or, as she has just done, a 2 hour constant 80mph trip from Calais to Brussels. The fuel economy is always around 30mpg too. Is the computer faulty or just rubbish?

Uummmm.... I suspect user error. If the computer has not been reset for the last 10000 miles, it takes some extraordinary driving to change the average over just 200 miles.

Not sure how you reset the computer on your Mini, but it won't be complicated an dwill be covered in the user manual.....

Ahhh, so the 'trip' doesnt change when you start up in the morning. Shirley it would make sense for a trip computer to reset itself after every 'trip'?

No,you need to hold the button down to reset values.

Same as every non-culmulative odometer i've ever come across.

No the OBC in the MINI will quite happily tell you the average speed over the life of the car if you don't reset it. I have found it difficult to adjust to having a car which resets for every journey!

I prefer to be able to keep my long term averages and re-set at will.
