Is it a bad time to try and sell a Mini? I thought this weekend would have seen people go shopping for a new one, we did, but I've put our mini up for sale and nadda, not a sausage...

Anyone on here sold recently and how long did it take?

TIA

Not really related to a Mini, but I am trying to sell my MX5 at the moment and haven't had a single call yet. I don't think I am asking too much (although everyone will say I am!!) I think everyone is either doing other things or just a bit financially nervous....

Is it perhaps too expensive, or maybe too individual?

I sold my Clubman at the end of March, and it took 2 weeks before my first (and only). It sold to that person though!

It's the cheapest 2008 Cooper on the net, one owner. The only drawback is it has 58000 miles but it is priced accordingly at censored.

If you're marketing it properly, your only lever is price or patience.
If no one ever calls after a few weeks then it is obviously too expensive, regardless of the asking price of other cars.
Or maybe it's a colour issue ?

Just a few quick thoughts, GJOB. Please remember this is my personal opinion...!

You state TLC pack included - TLC pack only runs to 50,000 miles, so is it the TLC XL pack? You should state so?
You state Private Plate not included - has the it already been removed? This is a stumbling block when selling a car with a Cherished registration - and may put buyers off, as they know it's at least an additional 2 weeks before they can collect (especially if they were hoping to view/pay/collect on one day, if their journey has been 150-200 miles?).
WBAC are offering just over 5.5k for your vehicle, and whilst I appreciate that you say it is the cheapest 2008 Cooper around (there are 5 similar or cheaper on AutoTrader (albeit with differing mileages). Get it on AutoTrader!!

Thanks rfn, they are good points.

We have started the process for removing the reg; and yes, we used the last TLC token so it will now be XL, I'll fix that.

I bought and sold on PH a few times so thought it might sell quickly, should really put it on AT;)

We still have the option of P/X which is higher than WBAC valuation, was just trying to eek out an extra few quid.

Personally I think people are beginning to feel the pinch (again). A friend has his house up for sale in a very sought after estate, usually the houses sell within days (often hours), his is well priced, well decorated but has only has 3 viewings in 4 weeks.

Someone else I know runs a Nissan dealership, apparently the end of last year and the start of this year were manic and they struggled to keep up with demand but things have slowed dramatically in the last month on the new cars, used cars are not moving at all.

I tried to sell my Barchetta at the end of last year and didn't get a single call, I was not that fussed so put it back under its cover and left it there. I will be putting it back up for sale in the next few weeks but am not hopeful, the same few Barchettas that were on the market when I tried to sell last year still seem to be there now!!

Chatted to a few mates who are dealers who said the last 2 months have dropped through the floor, not sure about private sales but it seems to be a difficult time right now.

One of the dealers was saying that prices are rock bottom and if cars don't sell after 3 months (yes 3 months!!) then it's off to the auction house/chop shop etc...

We had loads of gimmicks thrown in - Picnic Hamper, M&S Vouchers, Goodwood tickets - but no discount...

Times must be tough frown

Don't get het up on detail or keep dropping the price (unless you absolutely must sell). I just sold my E46 m3, it was an absolutely immaculate example with zero faults and yet it was the most painful experience of my life. From buyers who test drove it and then couldn't afford it to stupid traders trying to tell me I should sell it for £1000 less than the cheapest one on the market.

I eventually let it go for WAY cheaper than I knew it was worth just to be rid of the pain and suffering of people phoning me at 12.10am asking me 'what's the lowest price you'll take for it' - without even having seen the car and its condition.

It is a plain awful time to have to sell a car. Any car.

Don't mean to be harsh but a car is only worth what someone will actually pay for it, by definition.

I meant to get an equal equivalent would have cost them more.
