Just learned that our 2007 1.4 Mini One has blown a piston and needs a new engine. Anyone know where I can source a reconditioned engine. BMW want 3600 plus vat?

I've used these once or twice for spares. Good shipping and very quick and helpful.

Thanks for the Mini Spares recommendation I ordered an engine off them today. Fingers crossed it all works although they were very friendly and efficient.

You are welcome. I recall when I ordered my headlamp bixenon for my old MCS, I Spent 5 minutes just getting to the box of the light. Their packing was exceptional.

All the best, let us now how you get on with the new engine install.

It's been a learning experience. I looked into a repair, ie new piston and sleeve and the cost of the parts made it a no brainer just to go for a 2nd hand engine. Mini Spares state that the donor car was rear-shunted and had 22k on the clock. Mine had 68k so hopefully it'll be like a heart transplant from a younger person!

Got the car back last week. Runs fine. The whole incident cost me £1130 for the exchange engine (delivered) and £1165 for labour and other parts.
