Early automatics - advice
Discussion
Morning all
We've just ordered my mrs a new countryman automatic, but the delivery's not going to be until early oct.
As she's not driven for a few years anyway (getting her the countryman was the deal to get her driving again, because although she's had a car, I'm the only one that uses it to stop it rotting away
), we've decided the best thing to do whilst we wait for the new car is to get her a normal mini auto to run her around in to get her back used to driving.
I've seen on autotrader there's a number of 2002/3 cars for around the £3-4k mark, so I'm hoping to find a private seller and pick something up that I can then sell for a not dissimilar amount when time comes to sell later in the year
Anyway, My question is, could any of you guys give me some tips on what to look out for on older used auto minis of that type of age and also are higher mileage cars likely to be more problematic or do the minis wear well ?
Any advice would be gratefully appreciated
Cheers in advance
Graeme

I can't offer too much advice but my Mum took a 2002 Cooper Auto from 20k to 85k over 6 years and it was entirely reliable (didn't even suffer the usual power steering issues...).
It's worth noting that One and Cooper Autos in the "first" MINI are CVT gearboxes, rather than traditional automatics, whereas Cooper S Autos are tiptronic boxes.
