Xenon headlight not working...

I've just been followed by Miss Notax in her Cooper S and saw the offside headlight isn't working on dipped beam. It is fitted with Xenon factory lights and I've never had a Xenon fail before. Could it be a bulb? Anything else I should check? Thanks

It could also be the ballast. I think these used to fail on some BMWs.

Bulbs do fail, try swopping it with the working one to check.

Is it a pre facelift r53? Common problem if so.

If its not the bulb it will probably be the igniter - this is separate to the ballast and requires a new headlight unit as its built in.

I have a spare bulb and ballast if it turns out to be one of them

If ou need a new unit there are brand new ones on eBay for about 150, really easy to fit
