Hi all,

My neighbour has a 2004 Cooper Convertible which is playing up. In short, the left hand latch disengages and the roof starts to retract. The right hand side looks to stay in place, but I'm not clear if its not disengaging or if the roof mechanism is failing.

I've had a search on the web but am struggling to see what the fix is.

I've had a read of this thread which sounds similar with similar BMW diagnostics.

I've also had a look at these YouTube vids - this seems like it could be the issue too and the potential fix.

I took a pic of what I think is the malfunctioning part, see below.

My question is, those of you in the know, does this look right and if so, which is the part/parts needed to fix? I think this is the correct parts page..

Any help greatly appreciated, it would be nice for me to be able to help the neighbour avoid a £1k bill!
