Noise under braking & gear change. Cooper S 07 plate.

Hi All,

Apologies if this has already been asked....however when changing down gears (whilst under braking) for a junction (seems to be more for a left hand turn), the car makes a horrible noise...which is very hard to describe and is audible from the rear of the vehicle.

Does anyone have a potential diagnosis or experience of this issue.....?

Any replies will be greatly received.

Maybe a sticky caliper or stone in the caliper. Reverse and brake very hard (WHERE AND WHEN SAFE TO DO SO FFS, lol).

Is the noise a bang or scrape? Rear anti roll bar bushes can cause knocks on these.
