full bluetooth vs basic?

Hello, I'm new to these parts having just bought a mini coupe cooper s. It has the full bluetooth which I assumed would let me play music wirelessly from my mobile, It only has the normal radio boost not visual boost CD player if this matters as I cannot get it to work.
If anyone can either tell me how to get it to work, can advise on how to make a galaxy s3 phone play audio through its usb, or advise me on the cheapest way of getting the y cable for an iPod it would be very much appreciated.
