My wife is collecting a 55 plate MINI cooper S on saturday.

Is there any Marque specific forums? A google search only shows american ones.

Also any reccomendations for child seats?

Mini2 is a global forum, but it has quite a few UK users.

It's also pretty generic and chock full of ads too.

Mini2 used to be very good, then the original fella that set it up sold it and the company that took it over ruined it.

How old is your child?

We had the same model and used the ISOFIX seats in the rear that BMW do - suitable from when they are very small right up to when they can use just a booster. Very sturdy and piece of cake to fit

I'd recommend the ISOFIX one that BMW/Mini do - they plug into the Seat mountings and have done our 2 right from below that age up to 7 or 8 when they started on booster seats
