Xenon headlights
Discussion
Just taken delivery of a mini clubman hampton with xenon headlights. Since driving
the car with the lights on, i was flashed by oncoming vehicle 3 times on a 10 min
drive through the back roads. I also had a car in front turn its hazards on as i
approached from behind.
The main dealer, that i purchased the car from, is about 4hour drive away and they
have said that they are non adjustable. I am awaiting a call back to let me know
if there is anything that can be done. As i accelerate the beam moves up the back
of the car infront.
I was under the impression that they are self levelling. Has anyone else had this
issue.Thanks

The headlamps are self levelling and can be very expensive. Xenon lights and their brightness is something that has been covered here before.
More to the point is that I had a similar issue when I had my R56 and just before the MOT. I needed the car so the MOT had to be passed. When the unit was removed to see why it was off, it was as small piece of plastic that could not be replaced on its own so a whole new unit had to be purchased. Much to my displeasure a small piece of plastic costed me £1k inclusive of tax and fitting at the dealer. The people in the MOT center would not allow me to glue the plastic bit together so it cost me.
I suggest that with the purchase warranty if you have one to go to a dealer near you to see the alignment and diagnose if there is an issue. I was very happy to have the mini extended warranty when I had mine. Also I suggest that you speak to the dealer to see how they can help rectify if there is an issue. Don't be pushed away, be nice but purposeful in seeking resolution.

Had the same too high & dazzling nuisance with our Xenons.
You can adjust the beam height yourself, quickly and simply.
The beam height adjusters are found on the top & outside edge of the light unit. They are the grey nylon hex screws, which can be simply turned with a screwdriver.
Turn anticlockwise to raise the beam. Turn clockwise to lower the beam.
They are very low geared adjustments, so you may need to turn the screw for six or seven times before you see any difference in beam height.
Best done with the car on a flat surface, and pointing at a blank wall / garage door etc. Mark the current beam height with tape, so you can easily see the difference as you adjust.
Take a few test drives to see how it is on the road, and fine tune it if necessary, until you're happy.
