When I bought my new Clubvan I asked for it to be fitted with cooper S style chrome filler cap. This was not a factory option but the dealer said they could do it so I order it.

However I asked that they keep hold of the original one so that if I ever wanted to I could put it back to factory standard.

They have quoted the following.

"I have checked with our technicians and the only way to remove a fuel cap is to brake it, it would've been destroyed as you can not reuse them once removed."

This sound like complete crap to me, and I susspect that they threw it away. But before I go and complain can any one confirm if this is correct or not.

I have never heard of having to break any part off a car to replace it. Unless it is welded or similar.

Thanks

Barry

It's not a 2 minute job, but it doesn't sound like you have to do anything non-reversible:

ETA: Maybe they ripped the rubber bit?
