Cooper 04 Alternator replaced now a possible heating problem

Had the Alternator replaced today on my wifes 04 Mini Cooper.

All seems fine now apart from an issue with the climate control which I am not sure about.

If I set it to LOW then the car blows cold air which is fine.

But if I set it just one notch up to 16 then it immediately blows very hot air and if I turn it up the air blown does change and get even hotter.

I am not sure if this is normal as I don't really know the car and I appreciate that it is freezing outside so I am thinking is the car just getting the temperature in the car up as quickly as possible to 16 degrees C.

My wife is sure that it didn't used to do this and I can't talk to the mechanic now until monday so I wondered if this is not normal is there anything I could check has been re connected as I know the whole front of the car came off for the alternator replacement.

Sounds normal to me. You are telling it to get the cabin temperature to 16C. It's pumping in hot air to get it to that temp. If it was to carry on pumping out hot air after passing 16C then there might be a problem.

I don't think it'll be blowing warmer air if you set it hotter though. It'll just keep blowing hot for longer until it reaches that temperature.
