Folks, have been looking at 2-3 yr old JCW hatches but also quite like the idea of a new one as the finance figs could be quite tempting for a car built to order.

Just wondering what the chat is re timing of the follow up car to the R56 ? And would the next JCW of that generation car likely be a couple of years later etc...

Any thoughts most welcome. Many thanks.

Should have said, just trying to gauge how much of a drop in the cars value there might be over the next couple of years if getting a new one shortly. Thanks.

Here's a link which might help you. It seems to be settling down after year 3 in the classifieds.

Personally I'd let someone else take the hit and keep your eyes out for a good one with the spec you want.

Thanks for that - much appreciated.
It does go against the grain buying a brand new car, unless there's exceptional circumstances.

If you're going to finance the car it's probably cheaper than getting a used one because of the low rates they are doing on PCPs at the moment. The list price of mine in March 2009 was £24,000-ish (I paid £21,800) and I part-ex'd it a year ago for £13,750 which I didn't think was too bad really at 63% of what I paid after 3 years. They are brilliant little cars - very different character to the standard MCS but easy to live with and apart from going in for the "rattle" fix after its first service at 2 years old it didn't miss a beat.
