MPG - R56 Cooper

As per the earlier thread on the Cooper S, what are people finding their standard R56 Cooper returns on MPG?
I seem to average between 47 & 49 on my work journeys (mixture of country roads and A roads), but have seen that the official figures reckon between 40.9 and 62.8 (with an average of 52.3).

Is this really realistic?

We had ours for 5 years and did about 60k in total. Similar driving to you, it varied between 43 and 50. Towards the end of its time with us it tailed off quite a bit.
