03 reg mini cooper s issues

hi guys first problem concerning the cooper s is the back windscreen wipers stopped working checked the fuse its fine anybody else experienced this problem?
also the exhaust heatshields started rattling is this easy to replace?

any help/inputs appreciated

I was under one the other day, and the heatshield looked pretty straightforward. You'll probably need to remove the exhaust first though.

I have the same on my rear wipper. As yet I have not found out the cause, replaced the relay and it still works some times and not others and checked out the connection to the motor and that looks ok. I think it may be connection some were or the cables as they exit the boot area? If you find it please let me know.

I've had the rear wiper fault on other hatchbacks I've owned and it was down to the earth connection between the bootlid and the cabin of the car.

Had a similar problem, not on a mini but on a Passat. Turned out it had just seized. Removing the arm then lubing the beaing fixed the problem.

I had to fit a new motor to my 53 plate s. The washer was leaking and killed the motor.
