Just about to push the button on a new MCS

Just about to confirm an order for a new MCS Hatch. I know the product pretty well having had a number of R53 models and an aborted R56 MCS in 2006 which was rejected due to their original fueling issues at launch.
Car is for the wife, spec is based on a standard MCS with Chilli, Media, Leather, Panoramic, Chrome bits/stripes etc. and on their 3.9% finance with £700 loyalty bonus.
Questions are: Is there any reason why I shouldn't? Is there any benefit of basing the car on one of these 'special editions' rather than standard? Is there anything deal wise I have missed?
Advice/Comments from the more knowledgeable appreciated.

Hi, the current specials (the Bayswater and Baker Street) have been around a year, and the R56 is due for replacement this Autumn. There could be a really late special S (like the R53 Checkmate) to keep sales up until the replacement comes into dealers; but trying to second guess Mini's marketing dept is a route to Arkham.
If you (or rather your wife) likes the current car and it's specced to perfection then go for it; if you're unsure then wait to see what the new model offers.
I picked (after about 6 months of prevaricating) a special as it reduced the number of options to a manageable level. There was a supermarket study somewhere that showed offering too many options causes a proportion of customers to choose nothing thus avoiding a 'mistaken' choice. Guess I'm within that percentile

We were looking at a September delivery, so the new model release date would be very useful to know.
We could easily hold off to November as we have an A7 on lease until then.
I wonder if the new model will have the decent finance rates and if there is going to be a price hike or not?

I'd push the button for the current car, if you're going to keep it a few years, imho.
Your own experience of new models in your op, suggests that the MINI mk3 will inevitably have some early bugs like new models always do, which usually get sorted with the facelifted models three or four years later.
The incentives are almost always bigger on the runout models, too.

Thanks Miglia, was thinking the same with regard to an R56.
Was pondering about holding off a few weeks as I can't see the deals on run-out models getting any worse and thinking July/Aug may see the intro of a special edition with effectively a free chili pack, or maybe some more dealer contribution etc.

I've had two R56s, both Coopers, and have noticed the shut-lines on the current car are not as good as those on the 58 plate. Makes me think the tooling is starting to wear. Have a look round the dealer's forecourt and come to your own conclusions however - the 58 plate was flat white and the newer one is grey metallic so could easily trick the eye.
The new model has lots of new tech (e.g. HUD, adaptive cruise), completely refreshed interior, and I think the S's fake bonnet scoop is going. Well worth a look at this page: http://www.motoringfile.com/2013/05/22/2014-mini-o...
