Hi everyone, what are the general opinions of the jcw 50th edition world championships ? My previous car was a 2003 cooper s built for fast road.
Recaro pole position seats, Williams harnesses with rear seat delete
Stop tech 330mm front brakes
Full Miltek exhaust, manifold and 100 cell high flow cat
Loads of over modifications, rolling roaded at 230bhp
Carbon front bonnet (painted)
Sorry could go on for ages, but essentially It was a bit of a special car to me but sold as I fancied a change and because it was pretty track focused I parted with it for my current 05 boxster. So I am considering a jcw 50 wc as I do miss the mini but would want a special car but have dismissed a gp works as I'd want to make the most of having a car that can have rear seats.
I want to know if this would be a good shout ? Has anyone had 1 tried 1 ? If they aren't all that I might just stick with the boxster if not

It's identical mechanically to the fJCW, just loaded with options and (at the time) unique equipment.

If you wanted a special track car by MINI, I would personally choose a regular fJCW, then spend the price difference on mods smile

As Ollie says, it was a cosmetic rather than mechanically enhanced special. At the time of release the reviews were downbeat as all the options made it slower than a base JCW; but most of the BMC decile anniversary editions were just a lick of BRG and chrome, so the 50th carries on the tradition.

As a rather well appointed JCW with a dash of provenance it would be a good choice; as a base car for mods similar to your 2003 car you may be better looking at a standard JCW.

Cheers guys, I knew it was more a tart up than any reall step up I guess but was thinking would it feel special as it was nicely kitted out and had some of the cosmetic bits I would fancy adding?!?! I do think starting with a nice and cheaper JCW might be a better bet if I go down that route and then adding some kit to make it a reall weapon smile.
Cheers for the replies

Easily done hehe

To be fair, the WC50 will always be worth a premium over a regular pre-facelift JCW, so that is also worth bearing in mind. I find them a special car, mainly because they practically stole the colour scheme I had dreamed of for a very long time!

Let us know how you get on smile
