Have been a member of many forums in the past and was wondering what was the best forum of a Cooper S Owner. I tried the Mini2 Forum tried to register but no reply. Any suggestions from anybody. Thanks in advance.

North American Motoring (NAM) is very good. Bit yankside based but very useful threads.

Barely a useful post on the whole site, unless you need to know what colour floor mats to buy wink

Good site if you want to discuss pretty stickers and options lists.

With mini 2 I had to contact the admin, as it wouldn't send me an activation email.

I'm on mini torque which is different, they seem to be very aggressive towards people, a few characters on there that play keyboard warrior and if your car doesn't have cool overs, be prepared for abuse!
Total mini has been ok, a little bit quiet but found some useful stuff.
NAM is very American orientated, but had some good info on there about Audio upgrades.

There is also this places, but it's very very very quiet.

As said been a member of many forums and in the last couple of years most forums have declining memberships must be a sign of the economic times. Thanks for the replies.

NAM is probably the best of the lot, it has everything from the sticker/bonnet stripe brigade, right up to full on track cars and just about everything inbetween. Loads of content, extremely helpful, and very active.

I registered as dls on Minitorque and in general I had a good reception but some weirdo's did surface briefly.
I started with a Newbie topic and then followed with queries on the JCW I then bought and have had some helpful advice.
Over the years you get to expect some 'characters' on forums so I just ignore them and pick out the useful stuff.
Mini2 seemed to have gone a bit quiet.

Also...what happened to Mini Mania? - they seem to be only in the US now - they used to do all sorts of accessories and gizmos, including a great centre console shelf for my wife's Cooper back in around 2005.

Although a bloke in Todmorden did offer to reset my airbag light for free.

I joined Minitorque recently and got some good feedback from my noob introduction post, but they are definitely into coilovers a little much for my liking.

I would love to have a blast in a Mini with coilovers, just to see if the ride is improved, or whether it's as harsh as I imagine it would be. Everyone seems to insist that it improves the comfort along with the handling and stance (not just on Mini's)

Good quality coilovers on the Gen 1 are not harsh, and transform what was already a fantastic handling car into something really incredible. My R50 on SS+ and 16s felt very crashy over local roads, whereas friends R53 on KW V2s and 17s rides far better, and handles even better. Win win.

lol. Coilovers or nothing iirc. Although to be fair, they do have a point, my gf's brothers mcs on meister r's rides approx. 1 billion times better than my standard one.

Not doubting that with the correct set up you could improve the ride, but the impression I get is that they are all a bit concerned with how low the car looks.

yes I had KW V1's on my old car, smoother, less crashy ride than standard and handled a lot better.
