The Warranty that comes with a main dealer supplied Cherished/Approved Used car; When, may I ask, should it start?

From the moment you are handed the keys?

Or one month down the line...?

Thanks in advance.

I would say it's from the moment you are handed the keys.
The dealer should have attended to any known items before selling it, although it's not unheard of for them to let BMW pick up the tab for pre-existing faults under the warranty.

I think the month delay relates to the after sale warranty to try and stop you claiming on an existing fault.

As far as the customer is concerned it is as you take the keys. But the dealer can't submit a used car warrenty claim in the first month and would have to repair at a costvto themselves.......I think this is right but not 100%

This is what I've heard from a few local dealers. One told me that my car got its warranty the day before I picked it up.

Supplying dealer said it didn't start until the following month. So I handed them back my car 3/3.5weeks ago having been told that the car couldn't be worked on until August 2nd, a month after I got it. They still have it, though they finished the mechanical side of it on Friday. It went back because I wasn't happy with a paint repair to the door and it became clear that the car was suffering from the infamous N14 'Death Rattle' after a few days of getting it.

I know it wasn't a BMW, but my TVR Chimaera came with a 2 year warranty and the list of work that had been done to it by the dealer was substantial.
I never had a single reason to claim and ran it for 7 years and 18k miles so it was worth the dealer price.

Trying to get out of something when it's new is totally unacceptable.
Even a delay is ridiculous.
