Which paint do Mini use on hardtop Cooper roof?
Discussion
I had a slight accident and there's a 3" scratch or slight dent on my 2011 Mini Cooper black roof. The paint is very high gloss metallic but is standard paint. (Hand car wash guy thought it was glass when I first went there).
Insurance co waved the law under my nose which states I can use any approved repairer so long as they use genuine Mini parts - which includes paint- and it won't invalidate my manufacturer's warranty.
Mini say they need to replace the whole roof, whereas all the other quoting body shop garages say it's a small panel beating repair and total respray. The quoted prices reflect the different approach of course.
What is the exact name or type/ product code of the high gloss black metallic paint that Mini use on their hardtop Cooper roof please? I want to make sure it's done properly using the right paint.

AS the paintwork should still be under warranty (I presume), I would stick with Mini paint and even them doing the work if you have to.
Not worth ruining a later claim for the sake of a few quid, especially if your insurers are paying for it.
There should be a paint code on Mini's records and in your build sheet (my dealer printed mine of for free!!! even though I bought the car privately and they hadn't supplied it).

thanks guys. In the end, I had it repaired locally by a recommended panel beater. He used Glasurit paint and lacquer and has given me a 3 year guarantee.
Mini quoted £3500 for a whole new roof panel. The scratch was only about 4 inches long.
Insurance company sent me an EU ruling whereby if official manufacturer parts are used, using a 3rd party to fix your car can't void your warranty. They wouldn't have paid the £3500 and as the actual job cost me £500 incl new roof bars, I didn't claim anyhow as my excess is £300.
I believe that the "incident" is permanently logged on my insurance co database (I insisted they remove all mention of a 'claim' but they say they can't....) so I expect my premium to go north next month too.
