Hi,

I'm new to this section of the forum so go easy on me!
I realise the 'how do I increase my mini's power' question is done to death but I remain confused.
My girlfriend recently got her hands on an '09 Cooper S but wants more power!
Normally I'd suggest she enjoys it as she is, but I'm a glutton for the extra BHP myself.

Firstly, is a simple remap alone a sensible option on the Cooper S?
Should I be going down the new pulley/larger intercooler/uprated exhaust route?
Where should I go in S.wales/S.west to get this work done?
How much will any/all of this cost?

Again, sorry if this has all been asked before but I still can't find what I want through the PH search option.

Thanks,
Laurence

If its a 09 then its Turbo rather than supercharged, so no changing of any pulleys
Check out evolve in luton and p torque in wolverhampton for remaps., some good results can be had in the region of 250hp.

Hi as said above if it's 2009 and an R56 it will be turbocharged.
I have used evolve in Luton myself and they are very reputable and in my opinion your best option. If you want solely a remap you can expect roughly a 30 - 35 bhp increase and an extra 45 ft lbs of torque. If going down to Luton is a pain they also offer a product , an R cable which they send you and then plug in to your car and laptop with an Internet connection and then downloads your remap at home.
If you want further power an updated front mount intercooler (FMIC ) is an advised option and either a decat or sports cat will make a big difference.
I have these fitted plus an AEM intake and it is a big step up from a standard S now.
Hope that is of some help

Fantastic advice.

Huge thanks.

I presume it's just as easy to 'unmap' when trying to sell the car on.

Thanks again.

Good point.

No harm in being a little economical with the truth is there... wink

I wouldn't condone this of course...

Be very careful with mods and insurance notification. It is a gamble.

There is a possibility that in the unlikely event that you have a serious accident, you could be responsible for your own and 3rd party losses if the wreckage of your car is found to have undisclosed mods. That can be seriously expensive, especially where personal injury / death is a component.
