Ours need doing and our local dealer wants £220.00 - which seems a lot. However, the next nearest dealer is only £5 cheaper.

Is this the going rate then?

Why go to a Main Dealer for just brake pads

Any local Independant could to that for you for a lot less £££

I am somewhat swayed by a recent experience buying tyres from Kwik-Fit. The fitter cross-threaded a wheel bolt and I ended up having to pursue KF for the cost of repair - then it had to go to Mini for the repair anyway. The hassle was such that I'd have been better off paying Mini for the tyres.

You could always do them yourself.

I'd DIY it as its a simple job. If you don't feel you are upto it then seek an independent specialist rather than a fast fit tyre place.

Or go back to the main dealer if you enjoy having your pants taken down.

£220 just for pads does seem very steep.

Believe it or not I am a qualified motor engineer and vehicle electrician. However, having done it as a job I am loath to ever do it again. In fact only last week I gave away most of my remaining tools.

Using the likes of Kwik-fit for anything is going too far the other way! You need somewhere that doesn't employ monkeys laugh
As ND says, find a good local independent (not a chain like KF) and it'll cost much less.

I agree not going to K-T

I was thinking of a Private Independant Co that take pride in his work so keeping his customers

what about going down the performance route and look at a set of aftermarket pads? EBC etc, may be cheaper or at least justify cost?

Just a thought.

Will this allow my wife to brake later and harder before turn in to Waitrose?

MINI will probably look at it and recommend new disks to go with your new pads too! Have done the two times I have needed pads.....
