Mini Countryman electric window motors ?

My wife has a 2012 Cooper Countryman.

The car is going back to the garage again for new electric window motors - this is the second set in 2 years and sadly the car is no longer under warranty.

Basically when you open the windows and then close them, the windows shut and then immediately drop down again a few inches.

Our local BMW dealer says " ahhhh TADTS - common fault"

Anyone else suffering from this or have any insight into why motors suddenly become faulty ?

She has had all the software on the car updated twice also but does not seem to fix the issue.

Would thist be more to do with a sensor that's the problem? Whereby it's designed so that a window will stop and release if something becomes stuck in it.

I asked the same question and was assured it was a motor fault . . . . .

To be "fair" BMW have now agreed to pay 50% of the parts and not charge for the labour now - so I shouldn't grumble - but just seems the more technological cars get the more stuff there is to go wrong !

My first Mini had the same problem both sides (and sometimes swapped randomly between sides for the craik), it went back several times under warranty (including the day after I took out the extended warranty :mopsbrow: ). The garage tried various things, mostly software resets. There was a known software fault, but not in the serial number range of my Mini and the Mini's software was so fragile they wouldn't dare try the update. Don't know if they eventually did replace the motor, but I replaced the car.

Thanks for the feedback - not sure Mrs 1/2p wants to change the car just yet but let's see what the dealer says next week.
