Mini Cooper S - Suspension

Hi Folks,

My Mini Cooper S needs some suspension work but im unsure if its control arms or just the ball joints?

The car can wander a little at speed, over bumps and rough road it can feel crashy and when parked up you can put your foot on the front wheel and rock the car back with quite a bit of movement.

Is this is the control arms or ball joints? The ball joints I can do, but the control arms mean you need to drop the subframe and this is a little past my technical skills.

The car is going in next tuesday for the serpentine belt to be replaced, so if all else fails i can get them to check, but rather do the work myself if I can.

I had this on mine, just bit the bullet and had the arms replaced so that all 3 bushes were done. I didn't fancy tackling it myself due to having to drop the subframe.

Well i managed to change the outer ball joints on the weekend, and when I was having the serpentine belt changed today I got him to have a look and 1 control arm bushing is showing wear, and the other one is fine.

Just wondering whether to bite the bullet and get them both done. Can I ask how much you paid to have them replaced?

Iirc it was around £240
