My mates wife has one of these. Her key isn’t working when she goes to start it. Apparently RAC man has had a look and he says the key needs to be re tuned. Any idea how much?

Did he say it would require a rolling road session or you can use an off the shelf map?

God knows. All I know is the key is not working and they need to take it to the garage to sort. Unless anyone knows a wonder trick?

hehe

Not sure the OP fully read your answer there.

Anyway, flat battery on the key?? Might need a visit to a stealer to re-code it I think is what the RAC man maybe referring to.

Have you tried putting "Mini Cooper key recode" into google? Loads of results, but basically it seems like there are 2 methods. Worth trying before paying a dealer

Are you trying to imply that t'interwebs can be searched & answers found before asking others?

You will be telling us there are things called search engines next!

The R56 (2006 - 2014) had a rechargeable battery in the fob. It got charged every time the key was inserted in the car. My spare 'ran out' and would not work.....
