We own an R56 Cooper S with n14 motor - been a great car (my wife's)

I'm thinking of buying a 08-14 Cooper S Clubman or JCW Clubman (obviously the later ones have the N18 engine) as an every day driver as I've just bought a dream sports car which I don't want to drive every day

Is there anything significantly different in the engines of the Cooper S vs the JCW (rods, pistons, cam etc) or is it basically just a tune?

And are there any recommended tune upgrades for the 135Kw Cooper S engine

I know about the oil usage issues having owned the 2010 CooperS for 2 years

any advice welcome

thanks

The actual engines are the same AFAIK, I think the differences are ancillaries/tune.

I thought the turbo was slightly different and the exhaust manifold too on the JCW, my N18 hasn't had a fetish for oil at all.

Like I said, ancillaries/tune.

The actual engine is unchanged.

On the N18 the engines themselves are pretty much identical between MCS and JCW.

The JCW has a marginally larger turbo and more aggressive tuning.
