Hello
I’m aware of issues with R56 timing chains, is there a year from when this problem was engineered out of the Minis?

N18 on cooper s late 2010 had a revised set up, but don't think it cured it completely, as I recall some still having to replaced chains and guides.
N18 was fitted to jcw in 2012
As always keeping the oil level right helps keep the pressure up on the tensioner

During the N14 engine life there were several revisions of tensioner too, in spring pressure, and lengths, all to try and limit the chain going slack, and breaking the plastic guides.

Can verify that. I replaced my tensioner as a precaution and the new one was of a different longer design to help exert more pressure on the chain.

Just keep a listen out for it starting to rattle and change the tensioner, it's not a difficult job.

N18s still have water pump issues after 50K miles

Just make sure it has a full service history
