I’ve decided my Time is up with my Mini GP2, I’ve had it 8 years, had my fun. But if honest it’s a little too firm for daily use and longer trips (no cruise control is one of my biggest bug bears they omitted!) and my backs not 23 years old anymore 😂
(If anyone is looking for a GP mine is up 13/13 done 54k miles.) - Hope that’s allowed to say will remove if not!

Wondering if anyone had any ideas of replacement cars that keep the fun factor but not having to double my money either?
Thinking 15-early 20s budget range.

I guess it depends if you want another Mini, a different hot hatch or 2 seater sportscar? I did toy with buying a GP2 earlier in the year but in the end got an F56 Works 210 as wanted something a bit newer and slightly less compromised with at least some limited ground clearance at the front. Having owned an aerokitted R56 Cooper S before I know they do catch the front easily and that wasn't even lowered. Lack of rear seats in the GP would actually bother me less as I can imagine just chucking stuff in the back through the hatch is easier than folding the seats to gain access. Although handy being able to seat someone in the back in an emergency I guess.

I also considered F56 JCW. The JCW Challenge from 2017 is meant to be a cracking, if firm riding, drive but punchy price wise at the top of your budget. Which would also get you into an LCI2 facelift JCW 2021 on. Golf GTI Clubsport S would be a nice upgrade for you but they are into the 30s. Would a lesser Golf GTI Mk7/7.5 be too boring?

What else is there, a 987 Cayman 2.9 or Boxster, a tuned MX5 perhaps.

No, still mid to high 20s

So many factors to consider but what about something like a M240i or TTS

Fitted billstein b16 PSS10 to my r59 which is a heavier car 1225 kg corner weighed
Have you considered a similar upgrade on the gp2 suspension before walking away?
Don t consider it as uncomfortable

Running kw v3 on my Jcw f56 also ok

Disclaimer I run slightly bigger tyres on both cars
215/45/17 AO52 on the roadster ( with GP2 brakes )
225/45/17 Goodyear F1 on the F56

The roadster is the fun car the f56 ijcw s the daily
Would not want to do much more than 200 miles in either but they both have interesting exhausts.. driving

This gets my vote, some decent coilovers, drop an inch on the wheel size, up the sidewall… /chefkiss
