iPhone Connection to Cooper S

My girlfriend is picking up an 07 Cooper S Works on Sunday morning and I was just wondering whether the OEM iPod adapter that you can have fitted by Mini/BMW is compatible with the iPhone?

Are there any better solutions out there? I must admit I do like the idea of the adapter charging the phone and also being able to control the iPod/iPhone from the stereo/steering wheel buttons.

Any help greatly appreciated

hi there. We have the ipod connection and its well worth having ! There s only one drawback, as soon as you connect it, the pad on the ipod becomes completely locked so you must choose a playlist or album that you want and press play before you connect it. The steering wheel control will only let you skip through one album, shuffle or playlist. If you change your mind you have to disconnect it which can be a problem if you're on your own in the car. That aside, it's great as you don't have to carry around loads of CDs that the mini doesn't have storage space for!

I was under the impression that it basically ran through the CD changer control and if you chose discs 1-5 then they were basically 5 playlists that you access. If you choose disc 6 then you go through the entire list of songs?

Or is that what you're saying and I'm missing the point? )
