Hello everyone, I need some advice.

I've just called up the servicing department for my local BMW dealer and have been quoted £180 for an oil service (40k) and £80 for brake fluid change.

The Mini is a 2003 so is out of TLC. Is it worth sticking with BMW or shall I just go to an independent garage?

Do the prices seem reasonable??

Thanks

they are quite high

TBH I would find someone you trust to now look after your mini

Depending where you live there are many mini only garages

Wow, that's more than I paid for the same thing on my 645. Not sure if Mini do it but you get discounted rates on BMW's older that 4 years. Might be worth a ring round a few dealers and play the off against each other to get a better price.

Thanks for your help people.

Have since considered that I only really need the oil service anyway after reading numerous threads mentioned the pointless changing of the brake fluid (opinions?).

And yes they do a discount for cars older than 4 years which brings the price down somewhat.

Any views on the value of purchasing tlc xl for £300, which would appear to cover this cost and further servicing as well (3 years and 30,000 miles)?

I'd go for the TLC package - it means you have the full Mini Service History, while making the servicing comparatively cheap. If they bring up any issues, you can still get them fixed elsewhere.
