My girlfriend's Cooper S brought the yellow engine warning light on the other day.

By the time it got to SNOWS BMW the light had gone out and they said they could not find anything wrong.

Since then, the warning light has stayed off, but on at least two occasions over the last few days the car has suffered from reduced performance. It feels like the turbo is not working at all.

The car is booked in for next week but if no warning light comes on, they will probably say there is no problem again.

SNOWS have refused to give her a courtesy car, but warned her not to drive it too far. Shame she's got a 250 mile round trip coming up!

If its under warranty - take it to another dealer. :-)

Must be under warranty if it's a turbo.

I've had this just before Christmas - it was believe it or not an emissions warning and I ended up getting BMW/Mini Assist out who diagnosed it as my car thinking it had a part fitted which it didn't (some sort of cold wheather heating element - bizzare I know). He turned the warning light off on mine but the fault was still in the computer so dont be fobbed off by the dealer.

Personally I would call up BMW/Mini Assist as the car is not performing as it should, depending on what the fault is the garage will be given 2 days to fix it and you should be provided with a hire car via BMW/Avis (seperate to the dealer). This is what I got and I was very pleased with them.

Main dealers, certianly the one near me are hopeless and never seem to have a courtesy car available when you need one. BMW Assist were fantastic and were with me within an hour - they will plug the computer and it should track down any issues.

Hope it gets sorted soon

Also with that, MINI UK will be paying for the loan of the hire car too.
