Mini one D 2003 EMS light

Hi all,

Posting on behalf of a friend of mine who has a mini one D.

Symptoms:
EMS light comes on and all power cuts, engine stops and power steering stops (becomes heavy).
He immediately restarts the engine and everything seems back to normal.

It did it twice in about a mile or so but then drove 15 mile without problem.

After a couple of days of sitting a 3 mile journey resulted in 6 conk outs.

He's getting a friend to have a look at it but would like a heads up on where to start.

Apparently the traction control light has come on a couple of times too.

One place to start looking is battery conections including the battery to car body link. I had a problem like this on a ford and found it was just a lose connection. Hope this helps
