I have a 53 plate cooper s.
When i close the doors, 50% of the time the windows do not move down on the first shut and hits the roof gutter. Any one had this happen? any ideas of how to sort it?
Thanks.

The problem is normally the microswitch in the door lock itself(sealed unit).
Does the window move freely under normal use?

we had that problem on our 52 MCS on the drivers door, needed the replacement sealed unit

two weeks ago the passenger one went sods law just as we where thinking of selling it.
Still after than a new battery that's the only fault we have had in nearly 7 years

Yes it works as you would expect when the door is shut.
Any idea how much the unit is going to cost? where abouts is it located?
Thanks.

they may just need resetting..... there'll be a crazy sequence of buttons and ignition positions to reset them.....

East mids.....Total 204 quid by local guy I've known since I was driving a MK1 escort .

The sealed unit cost 75 quid plus VAT, fitting was circa 2.5 hours. If it took him 2.5 hours I would have taken me all day and buggered something else up.
