Help - fan wont go stop on mini S

Hi there

Bit of a dumbo when it comes to cars....but wifes Mini S (52 plate) fan wont turn off, and therfore drains battery completly

Any ideas on how much this is likely to cost to fix? Currently cant drive it :-(

Have you checked the thermostat - these engines seem to eat them for breakfast......G/f went through 2 in 6 months, her fan was on all the time too!

Thanks - are they easy to fit yourself & any idea how much they cost?

Isn't there some kind of warranty fan fault? I'm sure I read something online once about hitting part of the fan (!) to temporarily fix it.
