i can't be certain at the moment but i wonder if my clutch isn;t starting to show signs of going...

2005 48k miles originally town and general driving by wife. then long distance A road driving by wife now me doing b road and fast dual carriageway blast. me occasional hooning all the time.

what's the general expectation for these cars?
and more imprtantly how much will it cost if it does need replacing???

mine lasted 35K, but in general it would be around 60K and they are not too expensive unless you go to BMW - if you do then be prepared to bend over. I pay about £350 + clutch £100 (if stock)

Thats prices based around the Midlands, if you are in London area add another £100 to the time

cool that's helpful.

i am nr MK so hopefully find someone at reasonable cost.

i can't make up my mind if it is going or not.

i have a fair bit of tread on the tyres but i'll change them soon - i have dsc and i am convinced sometimes it 'does stuff' without flashing the traction control light on.. and i am wondering if it's partially the combination of those things. it does seem to be biting in a slightly different place too which is why i started wondering.

still if it does worsen at least it's not 'out of the ordinary'!

How long does a clutch last? How long is a piece of string?

very helpful - thanks! hehe

it's an entirely fair point BUT given a set of conditions it IS perfectly reasonable to expect given compenet to have a life of a given range.
