I changed the rad on my daughter's Mini One about 6 months ago as the original was corroded and leaking close to the bottom hose. The hose was fine so it all went back together with ease.

The car is loosing coolant at about a pint/2 to 3 weeks but it was doing that also before the new rad.

Is this loss a Mini trait, or should I start to worry about the car (again)?
Are there any known common weak spots?

Oil is fine and clean, and the car runs well (77K miles)

Hope you can help me as you all have before!

Graham.

Hi,

Not sure if it has a similar engine but the thermostat housing was leaking on our 2005 cooper s. I is on the rh side of the head and drips and runs around the back of the g-box.

About £35 and an hour to fit.

Thanks for the responses.

No leaks from the header tank top, just swallows it from 'Max' to min or further in 3 weeks, at a guess about a pint or 1/2 a pint.

I'll take a look around the stat area.

Graham.

Had a chance to look at the car just (not my car) and the leak is from.....
The radiator!

Hope it is the hose leaking and not the refurbed rad.
Good news is that it is not a cylinder head etc (oil clean) so looks like a strip down again to get the rad out and change the bottom hose.

What else are Dad's for?
