Hi Everyone,

I've got an electric blue 2003 MCS and I'm looking to upgrade the exhaust system. I've been looking for reviews of systems, but there isn't much out there. Miltek seems to be popular though...

Has anyone got any suggestions or opinions on the market? I'm not after anything really loud... Just something that sounds a bit raspier... Unfortunately, my exhaust just simply sound nice enough compared to my brother face lift MCS with the altered exhaust system!! cry

Thanks in advance!

How about getting a John Cooper Works exhaust system, I've just had one fitted to mine and it seems pretty good up to now. I wanted to keep the noise down as much as possible but with a bit of a growl to give a hint at the extra power that I'm now getting with my smaller supercharger pulley etc and that seems to work great.

Speak to John at Modnmini and he should be able to sort you out with one.

The last time I looked at a JCW exhaust system, I'm sure they were around 2k, which would put it a little out of price range! Is this still the case?

Miltek!!!! Or just do the One Ball mod to the standard exhaust, it'll sound ALOT better than your brothers then!!!

Hi All,

I have just fitted a stainless steel exhaust to my wife's MCS (02) and we both love it. Iw as from MTK Technology

http://www.mtktechnology.com/ProductByGroup.asp?Pr...

Thanks all for your help... Can't say I'm any closer to figuring what exhaust to go for.

What's the majority opinion on Milltek?

Milltek is quite common but I know of a couple of people who've had problems with the baffles but they are running cars which have been tuned a bit...

The one-ball mod is a cheap alternative. For this, one of the rear silencers will be cut out and removed. Any decent exhaust place should be able to do it, I'm sure I've heard of people paying ~£40 for the job but don't hold me to that (obviously it will also vary from place to place).

Thanks for the reply. My MCS is completely stock and will remain that way... so the Milltek is still a tempting. This one-ball mod is not one I've heard of before? Is it completely legal? Will it not affect emmissions etc?

Sorry busy day yesterday, it was nowhere near that price, I paid around that for the reduced pulley, GRS intercooler, iridium spark plugs coilover suspension and the exhaust all fitted so I guess it was ouly around £500 for the exhaust.

Thanks Pembo. If I'm honest, JCW exhaust fall into first position, with Milltek close behind. Do you have a link or contact for where I could get a quote for the JCW exhaust? It's only the exhaust I want to change.

Yep, no problem, the website is: http://www.modnmini.com/

Or you could contact John direct on this email address: modnmini@btconnect.com

I didn't specify the JCW exhaust tips so he put the originals on for now and I'll get them in the future so if you want the tips included it's best to make sure you ask.

I know you want to keep it standard but the pulley mod is such value for money if your insurance will take it. I had to move companies but Adrian Flux took it on and my insurance actually dropped with the mods included.

As far as I know the one-ball is a legal mod, but to me the guys to ask would be the exhaust centre as I'm no expert. As a mod, I think it just allows the gases to flow a bit better as well as giving a bit more noise.

The one-ball is quite a common mod, I'm sure I've read some rate it more highly than fitting a Milltek/Janspeed etc., not only for the value of it but I think it also has good increases in torque/bhp (For an exhaust anyway).

Me personally, I have a JCW and the sound of it is great when giving it the beans, however it is a little quiet too for my liking (have been told it's anything but that out on the road), especially when just cruising.

Have a look at www.minitorque.com and you should be able to pick up some more ideas from there (there is an exhaust gallery with YouTube clips of various exhausts).

Try Derek Woodman MINI for a JCW cat back system. They do good prices and discounts for MINI2 and totalmini members:
