Hello,

Have popped in from porsche forum, one of our customers daughters has a mini (04 plate i think has private plate on) they have complained that the boot floor is sometimes wet and it looks like its been like this for some time as things are corroded.... before we pull the entire rear section of trim panels/carpets out is there anything common to check........?

We have water tested it for 2 hours and are drawing a blank....

Its not a clubman.

Sadly I dont think there is a definitive "they all do that sir"

but the seal around the high level brake light leaks on some cars I think, as do the backs of the side windows..........if its a cooper with a chilli pack its tricky to get at the 3rd brake light because of the spoiler - you have to undo the 2 bolts holding the spoiler on from inside (they are under little covers) and lever it up a bit as I remember (its bonded on) - then you can get a scrwedriver onto the brake light.....

Maybe the side windows though which is why your water testing isn't working?

Had the same prob on my daughters Mini One 02 plate. Was the seal around the rear brake light at the top of the window. silicon sealant fixed it after removal/clean etc. Been good for 2 years.

As Hillclimber says... I have a 2002 Mini that does exactly the same thing, and the fix he described worked for me!

Replace the top brake light with a clear LED one, they're brighter but the seal is also thicker.
