Considering a MCS Convertible
Discussion
Morning all,
My girlfriend is currently on the hunt for either a Cooper, or Cooper S soft top. I know very little about the mini's, but I've tried telling her the S is worth the extra outlay but she is not so sure. Does the Cooper lack slightly? She is currently drivin. A 1.4 Grande Punto which isn't very powerful, but my thinking is if she is spending £15k+ on a car, she'll be keeping it for a while and might aswell go for the S..
Is there any must have options on the Mini's? It's got to be Red.
We went into the local dealer and I'm not sure whether it was sales talk or not, but the salesman said in some
cases we'd be better off ordering a new one, rather than buying a 6 month/year old model. Any advice?
Any advice in general would be much appreciated

Going for a new one or a 6mth old used one would surely depend on what spec you choose to put on it. You can spec the Mini very, very highly but then the prices become absolutely laughable!!!!
I had a Cooper when they first came out and hated it within 3months purely because it was so slow and the petrol it went through (for what it is) was just silly.
I now have a '54 plate facelifted Cooper S and LOVE it!!! It loves a drink but it doesnt bother me much now becuase it has ALOT more oomph than the Cooper and is soooooo worth it.
I suggest you drive both variants (supercharged and Turbo) has they are massively different. I did, and found that the supercharged version has ALOT more character than the Turbo version. The Supercharger drives like no other car on the road whereas the Turbo just feels like any other car, it doesnt feel like a Mini.
If you want better fuel consumption, smoother drive etc etc then plump for the Turbo engine.
Just my opinion of course...
The Mini forum on here tends to be a bit slow, so if you want quicker responses, try the other Mini Forums......Total Mini, Minitorque etc etc.
