Does replacing the clutch on a 52 plate Mini Cooper require the engine to be taken out?

No it doesn't but it is quite an involved repair which does include removing the entire front subframe. the total labour time on a cooper is around 6 hours and a cooper s around 7. We supply and fit clutches on a cooper from £350 all in.

The friend who owns the car has been quoted £550, which seems a bit steep given the above. Anyone know of an independant in the Coventry area that may be more sensible price wise?
